tour diary: loganberry books

I'm here in Fort Lee, New Jersey, taking a break after a very busy weekend. I wasn't able to update my blog for a few days because I didn't have internet access. But we can remedy that now!

I started my tour last Thursday at Loganberry Books in Shaker Heights, Ohio. Shaker Heights is a little community right by Cleveland. Loganberry Books (which just was named "Best Independent Bookstore in Cleveland," way to go, Loganberry!) is this awesome used bookstore. When I say awesome, I mean it - it's got to be the hugest used bookstore I've ever seen.

We had a small but enthusiastic crowd. The store was decorated for Halloween, and for some reason the owner seemed to have a skulls-and-skeletons motif going in her store. In the actual stage area, there were a couple of chairs that had skeleton chair covers on them. When you looked at the chairs, the top of the chair was where the neck of the skeleton would be, so the heads were actually nestled in the crook of the skeletons' arms. (See the picture below - they're kind of small but you can get an idea of what I mean.) For some reason no one wanted to sit in those chairs. So when I looked at the audience, I would see smiling human faces... and then smiling red eyed skeletons! It was a rather unusual audience for me.

Haha, nice! If you tell readers to click on the photo, it will blow up to full size so you can see them better.
