Does it count as part of my tour if I'm at my mom's house? Well, I guess so, even though it's not very exciting.
Today was kind of bizarre. I didn't get much sleep and then when I finally was sleeping, it was time to get up and go to church! I was asked to do a special for today's service so I was up rather early.
There are a lot of changes going on in my church, but I don't view change as a bad thing, necessarily. I am a little bummed that some of these changes mean that people I was getting to know are leaving. But that's life - and from what I can tell, most of the people in my circle of friends will be gone from the area within the next five years.
I think the best part of today was the anticipation I'm feeling. This is going to be (I hope) an easier week than last week - I'm only playing three shows, vs. the four I did last week back to back. I'm going to be visiting one of my best friends in New York City, and I've never been there (or played there), so now it will be a time for firsts in both areas.
My husband helped me pack up the car and then stood in the driveway to see me off. I began backing up and then stopped. My husband looked at me quizzically as I jumped out of the car. No, it was not for a romantic "one last kiss, darling!" kind of moment. I was panicking because I couldn't remember if I had packed my glasses or not. (I was wearing my sunglasses, since it was so sunny out.) Then I realized that if I was wearing my (prescription) sunglasses, I must have my glasses somewhere... so where were my contacts? I finally located everything, while my husband stood by, just shaking his head. As I got back in the car and began backing down the driveway (again) my husband said to me through my open window, "How do you do this by yourself?"
To which I have to reply, That's a very good question.
